![]() ![]() Here is a set I altered and you can see the little critical air foil I spot welded in place, (again, pop rivets will work fine, but use stainless so they do not oxidize and fall off in the heat. In the case where you have Chrome tins, pop riveting with stainless rivets is perfectly fine. If I cannot find a nice set of original German tins to use, I buy the crap for $ 2.00 at the swap meets that everyone passes, cut the foil out and weld it onto a set of aftermarket tins. But the dual port cylinder tins DO NEED this air foil. Single Port heads did not come with them and do not need this air foil. But, (here is the big difference in cooling), the aftermarket cylinder tins do not have the air foil that directs air around the crucial spark plug quench area. Again, chrome is OK, as is black or for that mater, body color. The pieces you have lacking are the cylinder tins. Jake Raby did and exhaustive research on these using flow measuring devices. Never use the center alternator mount, 930 style or the slanted style fan shrouds, they just do not work. From my experience, in a open buggy, the aftermarket fan shrouds of the dog house nature work OK, be chrome or black. Vincent, changing the air foils inside of the actual shroud may be next to worthless without some sort of flow testing technology. The primary function of the shroud and tin is to direct airflow, not radiate heat. Yeah - I have been arguing this fact for a while. I do plan to follow Joe's advice and 'transfer' these from and old OEM unit (when I get my hands on one) I do have 'regular' OEM fan shrouds but not sure the 36HP internals are interchangeable? I do realise that the main problem of the chrome fan shroud is the fact that some of the veins and air foils are missing inside these reproduction pieces. I can see how having a black fan shroud inside a sealed engine bay of a Bug or Bus would benefit from improved imissivity heat transfer but our cars' engine bay are completly exposed causing a large amount of airflow to cool the fan shroud (at speed of course). more specifically around Radiation and Convection heat loss characterictics.Īccording to the video and the "expert" in that video, color only affects the emissivity heat transfer, it does not play a role in convection (air flow) of heat transfers.īefore you tell me to go post this in the Engine/Performance section, there's a reason I'm posting this here. With this out of the way and after watching this video: Yes I know it's not as efficient as a black stock unit, Joe and I discussed it during the last ECVW trip. ![]() View original topic: Chrome fan shroud performance :: View topic - Chrome fan shroud performance Forumsįorum Index -> Performance/Engines/Transmissions -> Chrome fan shroud performance ![]() ![]() ![]() While 90 minutes is considered a minimum length for feature film, the script for Redline is flawed and could have been cut down in places. The actual Redline race (and yes, it is awesome) takes up the last half an hour of the film. The introduction of the story and characters for Act 1 takes about an hour and its short moments of character development don”t save it. I wonder if there was any disagreement in the writing process, as this seems to be the weakest of their work. The screenplay was a collaborative work between talents such as: film director Katsuhito Ishii, Yoji Enokido (screenwriter for Revolutionary Girl Utena & Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Yoshiki Sakurai (screenwriter for Ghost in a Shell: Stand Alone Complex & Evangelion Rebuilds). Even though these screenwriters have produced extraordinary work, their styles are quite distinct. It is doubtful that it would be gaining as much praise as it is now. Once I had recognized this in my head, I wondered “What would Redline be like if its animation wasn’t this good?” – not bad but just good. ![]() ![]() It is difficult to look away once the movie starts. It seems to be self aware of its aesthetics, combining the biggest variety of locations, machines, weapons and monsters in the movie as possible. Redline proves that viewers can be entertained by visuals alone. It’s like the producers all sat down at a table and said “We want to make something that looks awesome – how many cool things can we cram into this one movie?”. While a few of the earlier scenes shine (restaurant flooding scene, JP in the wilderness), the real payoff is the Redline race, which is the last quarter of the film. The non stop movement and detail in the facial expressions are beautiful and the consistent fluidity in every single shot is close to unmatched. It may not appeal to everyone but one must give it credit for being unique. The character designs by Katsuhito Ishii border on uncomfortably realistic, but retain their cartoon factor with sharp lines, a bright, fluro color pallet, and a heavy focus on black shadows. Imagine Pod Racing from Star Wars Episode 1, but animated – it mixes all things nerdy and cool. It was in production for 7 years, and it is easy to see why. The catch is it was cell drawn, which throws Loony Tunes and classic Disney into perspective. One can’t deny that Redline is impressive amongst digitally animated movies. Redline has received the majority of its praise for its exuberant, explosive animation. While it seems identical to the US car film of the same name, Redline was in production long before its US counterpart, so it is nothing more than an amusing coincidence. He also worked as a character designer and animation director. The film tells the story of an intergalactic race, Redline, which takes place every 5 years, and the endeavors of young man JP and girl Sonoshee to win it at any cost. Takeshi Koike starts his directorial debut here, he had in the past worked as a key animator for titles like the Animatrix (2003), Card Captor Sakura (1998) and Patlabor 3 (2002). It initially premiered in 2009 but had its full Japan release in late 2010. Redline is a 102 minute car-racing movie produced by studio Madhouse. ![]() Lots of fun.Redline Review: a feast for the eyes but not much else? Turn your brain off, sit back and watch the girls and fast cars. Wikipedia suggests the animation took seven years to make with over 100,000 hand-made drawings – odd given it is the director’s debut work! It looks very different it looks almost like pop-art meets anime. They don’t want the race there and deploy the army, dirty tricks and all, in order to put a stop to it. Roboworld’s authorities are not happy about this. To make matters worse, in order to boost ratings, the Redline will race in Roboworld. The Redline is a tougher, harder, everything-goes race – and that’s when the previous champions step up. The catch? His partner, Frisbee, finds himself surrounded by gangsters who have bet on JP to lose.ĭespite the Grease Lightening hairstyles – this is the far future, with all sorts of aliens, weapons and robots. It’s a brutal dash for the finish line with nitro and plenty of missiles. It’s action from the outset as we find JP – with some truly crazy, 60s Rockers hair, busy trying to win the Yellowline race. In fact, an amazing shoutout to James Shimoji for some awe-inspiring music in this feature-length. There are certainly portions of the anime when the racecourse looks like the spinning guitar track of legendary mode and the colourful blurs of the racers the keys. This anime is a different beast.īrought to us by Madhouse and Manga, the Redline anime is a loud film – and at times I wondered whether Guitar Hero had heavily inspired director Takeshi Koike or author Katsuhito Ishii. Let’s also be clear from the start, there is a movie called Redline and it doesn’t seem to be popular. I’m not going to be able to review without mentioning Whacky Races. ![]() ![]() ![]() By visiting plati.market you agree that plati.market may use cookies to be processed by Google Analytics and Yandex.Metrika. ![]() Importantly, the ruling signals that the judiciary is at last wearying of the former president’s Stalingrad defence - a myriad of basically frivolous court applications designed to delay his appearance in court on criminal charges arising from the 1999 arms deal. He said that the former president was being ‘treated with laws that are not in existence … on those notorious Zuma laws”.Īn aside: Manyi was this week sworn in as an MP for the Economic Freedom Fighters, just a month after joining the party. Mzwanele Manyi, spokesperson for the Zuma Foundation, labelled it a “bizarre” judgment and a “travesty of justice”. There’s of course been predictable indignation from the Zuma cabal. And aside from its sturdy legal legs, this judgment is a politically robust creature - delivered by a full Bench of two women and one man, representing three ethnicities - which should easily survive the appeal that has already been announced. Theirs is a solidly constructed judgment that will undoubtedly in the future influence courts towards the side of the angels. They also reaffirmed the right of civil society organisations to be admitted as amici curiae, friends of the court, no matter how partisan they are, as long as they have useful legal insights to contribute. On the upside, judges Gregory Kruger, Jacqui Henriques and Mokgere Masipa tipped their hats to the importance of media freedom and placed curbs on the ability of the rich to litigate to avoid journalistic scrutiny and, in this matter, to prevent government officials from carrying out their duties. Unscrupulous politicians have over the past decade increasingly abused the court process, using the flimsiest of legal pretexts to delay or avoid justice. _STEADY_PAYWALL_ While the judgment dealt the former president a well-deserved bloody nose and reiterated some fundamental constitutional precepts, it was a reminder that the judicial system is under sustained pressure. That’s the tenor of the response to Jacob Zuma’s humiliation this week in the Pietermaritzburg High Court, where the National Prosecuting Authority’s Billy Downer and News24’s Karyn Maughan succeeded in their application to set aside his private prosecution of them.
